Posted: 27 Nov 2017 at 2:38pm. I found a new block for my tractor and overhauled it. I replaced the clutch when the tractor was split. The clutch kit said not to adjust the fingers, so I didn't. I put everything back together, ran the tractor, realised I needed to adjust the distance in the release bearing.

D14 power steering install. Purchased a factory power steering unit and installed it. The steering wheel will only turn if I turn the wheel with arm strength. The steering wheel is easier to turn with the engine off. Could it be a bad steering valve (motor) which is on the left side when sitting on the tractor.
175's were to be at 23 degrees BTDC, which means put the F-25 mark at the top of the viewing hole. Set at wide open throttle with timing light. Idle the engine down to 400 RPM speed and allow it to idle that slow for at least a minute. Use better octane gas. As Dr. Allis states, use a timing light!

Posted: 20 Feb 2018 at 6:38pm. So I am about to drain and replace the oil in the transmission of the D15. I have to replace the PTO seal anyway, and the oil in the transmission should be changed. I noted some comments on supplier sites that the 80/90 weight GL-5 spec is not suitable for "yellow metal" in older tractor transmissions.

Since Firing order is 1-2-4-3, if 2 and 3 are reversed, you would only have 1 and 4 firing. TDC should be when the rotor is pointing at # 1. Turning one full turn should be TDC for cylinder #4. (Compression stroke should be just before TDC) ~Spark plugs not gapped right . Do not use Champion plugs.

Perhaps 1 volt at the arm the moment the points open, but you'd need an oscilloscope to do this. On a D17, the Ignition wiring is setup where it has a ballast resistor inline. In the cranking mode, the resistor is by-passed and a full 12V's appears at the coil till the engine starts.
